The officer further said the actor’s police bodyguard was at the spot and he informed them that Khan had met with an accident. Rajendra Kadam, one of the two investigating officers in the case, also told the court that the police then immediately went to Khan’s house,

which is located about 200 m away from the spot, in Bandra area of Mumbai, but the star was not found at his residence.”On reaching the accident spot, I found people had gathered at the spot and they were pushing around Khan’s police bodyguard Ravindra Patil.

We pulled out Patil from the crowd and he told us what had happened. Only then, police came to know that Khan had met with an accident,” Kadam told the court. Kadam’s testimony can pose trouble for Khan, for it lends weight to a previous statement made in court by Ravindra Patil.

Patil, who died in 2007, had given a statement during the earlier trial before a magisterial court stating that he was sitting beside Khan in the car when the accident occurred and that he had warned him not to drive rashly.

Patil, who lodged the complaint after the hit-andrun, had also said the actor was under the influence of alcohol at the time. Khan made an appearance in the court on Wednesday without any prior summons.
