SHAH ALAM, September 27 – The Selangor PAS today denied the claim that the party agreed to the reduction in seats, from three to four seats previously, in the new line-up of the state executive council (exco).

Selangor PAS liaison secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the party had never agreed a reduction in the allocation of seats in the state exco and described the development as not a good start.

“We also feel the expulsion of Selat Klang Assemblywoman Dr Halimah Ali and Sabak Assemblyman Sallehen Mukhyi as without basis because they had performed outstandingly (in the previous administration),” he said in a statement here today.

He said prior to this, the state excos from PAS remained in the Selangor government’s administration to ensure the Pakatan Rakyat government remained stable.Earlier today, new Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali announced an additional seat for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR)b in the 10-member state exco line-up, while the seats for PAS would be reduced by one, from four previously.

With that, PKR will have four seats, PAS (three) and DAP, still with three seats. The three new faces named by Azmi in the state exco line-up are Seri Setia Assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Batu Caves Assemblyman Amirudin Shari, both from PKR, and Taman Templer Assemblyman Zaidy Abdul Talib, of PAS.

The PAS assemblymen retained in the line-up are Iskandar Abdul Samad (Cempaka) and Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (Sijangkang). The other seven state exco members are those who previously served under former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
