Vrindavan (India), November 19 – A handout picture provided by Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir on 17 November 2014 shows an artist’s impression of the world’s tallest Krishna temple, which is currently under construction in Vrindavan, India.

INDIA KRISHNA TEMPLE

The 210-metre-high temple under construction in northern India would be the country’s first temple skyscraper, an official from the foundation associated with the project said.

The temple is being built in Vrindavan, believed by Hindus to be the birthplace of the god Krishna. The Chandrodaya (rising moon) temple would rise out of a 10.5-hectare complex of gardens and waterways in an attempt to recreate the area as it was described to be 5,000 years ago in sacred texts.

The cornerstone was laid in March and the structure is expected to be completed in five years. The cost is 3 billion rupees (about 48.6 million dollars), the Hindu newspaper reported.
