Ministry to make funeral arrangement for victims without Next-of-Kin

KUCHING, July 31 – Funeral arrangement for the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash victims, who did not have any next-of-kin will be done by the Women, Family and Community Developmment Ministry, said its minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.

She said the victims’ remains would be buried according to their respective customs and religions while a special grave site are provided in Putrajaya for Muslim victims.

“The remains of the 43 Malaysian victims will be accorded with the highest honour upon arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport,” she told reporters at her Aidilfitri open house here Wednesday.

As of now, a total of 227 coffins containing flight MH17 victims had been handed over to the authorites in the Netherlands, which is leading the international investigation team.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is expected to arrive in The Hague tomorrow, is scheduled to meet his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte to discuss on the identification of the victims of the disaster and the repatriation of the remains and bringing those responsible to face justice.
